LIFE-SIZE BRONZE SCULPTURES: THE BUBBLEGUM YEARS
In 2023, Maureen turned her attention to creating life-size
bronze sculptures.
During what became a three-year journey she likes to call the Bubblegum
Years, she created a series of three young girls each enjoying a special
moment in time: a dancing, a dreaming and a diving girl. With this
series she captures the wonder of childhood and celebrates a time when
happiness could be found in the smallest things.
LITTLE DANCER, COME PLAY WITH US
Inspired by the innocence and wonder
of childhood, “Little Dancer, Come Play
With Us” is a joyful tribute to the magic
of little girls.
Influenced by Degas’ iconic “Little
Dancer, aged 14”, this sculpture’s playful
twist, the mischievous detail of blowing
bubblegum, evokes nostalgia and delight.
The Little Dancer’s size, pose and
expression result in a captivating
presence. The first of this limited edition
of twelve was completed in
December 2023.
The love for and universal appeal of
this interpretation of the Little Dancer
is evident, with six of the editions sold
within the first year of its release.
