CAPTURING THE MAGIC OF LIFE IN CLAY AND BRONZE
Maureen Visagé, a Cape Town-
based South African artist,
captivates her audience with
her vibrant and whimsical
figurines that celebrate love,
joy, and the beauty of life.
Her artistic journey began at a
young age and was nurtured
by her time at the Pretoria
Art, Music and Ballet School
(Pro Arté), where her chosen
artistic focus was on puppetry
and painting. She excelled both
artistically and academically and graduated at the top of her class in 1990.
Her love for mathematics led her to study Actuarial Science at the University
of Cape Town. Despite her academic path and a period working as an actuary
in London, her passion for art remained steadfast.
Upon returning to South Africa in 2000, Maureen joined a ceramic studio
and quickly fell in love with the art of sculpting in clay. This was the start of
a transformative journey, allowing her to explore her creativity in ways she
hadn’t before.
Over the years, her dedication and growing success inspired her to take a
bold step and, in 2011, Maureen made the life-changing decision to focus
entirely on creating art, fulfilling her dream of becoming a full-time artist.
