Within South Africa we courier your artwork to your door - the shipping cost will show at the checkout.

When shipping art internationally, two primary options are commonly considered: crated and rolled. Crating involves securely packaging the artwork in a custom-built crate, providing maximum protection against physical damage but often resulting in higher shipping costs due to size and weight.
On the other hand, rolling art involves taking stretched paintings off the frame, carefully wrapping the artwork and placing it in a protective tube. This method is more cost-effective and suitable for flexible pieces.
Choosing between crating and rolling depends on the specific artwork's size, fragility, and budget, as well as the destination's shipping requirements and regulations.

We will be in touch regarding the best options for you.

    Natasha Barnes

    Natasha Barnes

Natasha Barnes, a self-taught artist born in 1969, has been consumed by the world of painting since the age of seven. Based in Ballito, near Durban in South Africa, she draws deep inspiration from her African roots and an enduring passion for nature. Her artistic journey began with transforming ordinary visual images into vibrant works of art, and over time, evolved into a celebrated international career spanning over three decades.
During the early years of her career, Barnes focused on contemporary floral and landscape paintings, many of which are still widely distributed in print through global publishers. However, her creative instincts soon led her in a bold new direction. Drawn to the expressive freedom of abstraction and the emotive force of colour and movement, she embraced a more fluid, intuitive approach to painting. “I eventually let my hand roam free,” Barnes reflects, “creating the many large abstract works of colour, for which I am known today.”
Her work is heavily influenced by nature, especially the profound symbolism of the lotus flower—a recurring motif in her paintings. To Barnes, the lotus embodies resilience and transformation, demonstrating how beauty can emerge from dark, murky places. “It’s astounding and inspirational that such a beautiful flower can bloom and be at ease in muddy waters. Look for the lotus in your painting: you will find this mark in all my work,” she says. This metaphor reflects the emotional depth of her art and her personal philosophy.
Barnes has exhibited internationally for over 30 years, showcasing her work at prestigious art fairs and exhibitions in cities including London, Miami, New York, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Dallas, Tokyo, and across Europe. Since 2018, she has been a key figure in The Travelling Art Gallery, participating in group and solo exhibitions in England, Dubai, South Africa, and the United States. In 2024, she held successful solo exhibitions in both Dallas, Texas, and Tokyo, Japan.
Represented by The Artists Gallery in Cape Town, Natasha Barnes is considered one of Africa’s most published and internationally recognized contemporary artists. Her sophisticated vision weaves together cultural heritage and modern expression, resonating powerfully with global collectors and institutions.
When not in her studio, Natasha is an avid marathon runner, a passionate traveller who exhibits globally up to seven times a year, and a devoted cat lover. Her life and work are a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and creative freedom.
