Within South Africa we courier your artwork to your door - the shipping cost will show at the checkout.

When shipping art internationally, two primary options are commonly considered: crated and rolled. Crating involves securely packaging the artwork in a custom-built crate, providing maximum protection against physical damage but often resulting in higher shipping costs due to size and weight.
On the other hand, rolling art involves taking stretched paintings off the frame, carefully wrapping the artwork and placing it in a protective tube. This method is more cost-effective and suitable for flexible pieces.
Choosing between crating and rolling depends on the specific artwork's size, fragility, and budget, as well as the destination's shipping requirements and regulations.

We will be in touch regarding the best options for you.

    Description

A substantial portion of Maureen Visagé’s work portrays the innocence and wonder of children, especially girls. Girls are just magic, someone once told her when she was expecting her own. It is this magic that she loves to capture.

‘Little Dancer, Come Play With Us’ was inspired by Degas’s Little Dancer. This captivating bronze sculpture has been one of Maureen Visagé’s favourite artworks since she was very young. Out of her love for this work she grew her own little dancers.

The mischievousness of the bubblegum adds a quirky playfulness, evoking nostalgia for our own youthful days.
Maureen Visagé says creating her was an absolute joy, and she believes she represents the pinnacle of her work based on the little dancer.

    Maureen Visagé – Bronze Sculptures

Maureen Visagé is a Cape Town–based artist widely admired for her captivating life-size bronze sculptures. Her work reflects a deep passion for artistic expression and a fascination with the emotional richness and quiet poetry of everyday life. With bold gestures, refined detail, and playful elegance, she creates sculptures that feel both whimsical and intimately familiar.

Central to Visagé’s artistic vision is a celebration of love, joy, and the timeless wonder of childhood. She is particularly inspired by the innocence and imagination of young girls, exploring what she describes as the unique magic of girlhood. Her figures radiate warmth and personality, inviting viewers to reconnect with memories of carefree moments and youthful possibility.

Her acclaimed sculpture Little Dancer, Come Play with Us pays tribute to Edgar Degas’s iconic dancer, reinterpreted with a charming, contemporary twist.

While preserving the graceful poise of the original inspiration, Visagé introduces playful nostalgia, most notably through the unexpected detail of bubblegum, infusing the work with humour and lightness.

She continued this series of life-size figurative bronzes with Little Dreamer, portraying a serene young girl blowing a golden bubble as a symbol of hope and the fragile beauty of dreams, and Little
Diver, depicting a spirited child savouring a sunlit seaside moment.

Each limited-edition bronze offers a soulful experience, encouraging reflection on memory, imagination, and connection.

Her exclusive collection is available at The Artists Gallery in Cape Town.
