Cornè Theron is a former conveyancer turned artist who has rapidly gained recognition for her innovative and emotionally resonant work.Born in Worcester, South Africa, in 1974, Cornè Theron pursued a law degree at the University of the Orange Free State, completing her LLB in 1997. After several years in the legal profession, she transitioned to the art world, where she was quickly acknowledged for her talent. She was named a finalist in the Crouse Gallery's 'Fresh Talent Competition' and shortlisted for the SA Taxi Art Awards. Theron has participated in numerous group exhibitions and held her first solo exhibition in Johannesburg.In 2019, Cornè Theron moved to France on a talent visa awarded by the French government to further develop her artistic career. It was during this time, in a farmhouse near Cape Town, that she began experimenting with glass as a medium to pixelate her images. This innovation introduced abstraction and depth to her work, blurring the boundaries between reality and perception. In her practice, pixels are not merely aesthetic elements—they symbolize individuality within a collective, echoing the human experience within society.Each pixel in Cornè Theron’s work represents a distinct aspect of the self.
