I wanted to portray my proud African female figure embracing the old and the new, the traditional and the contemporary, finding the balance between the western idea of individualism and the traditional idea of community.
She is surrounded by the sweet excesses of the new, but finds a balance that makes her smile and confident with her traditional values. “
