Within South Africa we courier your artwork to your door - the shipping cost will show at the checkout.

When shipping art internationally, two primary options are commonly considered: crated and rolled. Crating involves securely packaging the artwork in a custom-built crate, providing maximum protection against physical damage but often resulting in higher shipping costs due to size and weight.
On the other hand, rolling art involves taking stretched paintings off the frame, carefully wrapping the artwork and placing it in a protective tube. This method is more cost-effective and suitable for flexible pieces.
Choosing between crating and rolling depends on the specific artwork's size, fragility, and budget, as well as the destination's shipping requirements and regulations.

We will be in touch regarding the best options for you.

    Description

This vibrant collage by Madiboka celebrates the global legacy of Pop Art through a bold East-meets-West lens.

At its centre stands Vladimir Tretchikoff’s Chinese Girl, a portrait that transcended its mid-century kitsch reputation to become a symbol of cultural hybridity. Her composed elegance is countered by the mischievous charm of the Pink Panther, whose irreverence captures the humour and playfulness of mass culture.

Above them, Roy Lichtenstein’s iconic spray can bursts into motion, evoking the graphic intensity and experimental energy of 1960s Pop Art. In the background, a fragment of Wassily Kandinsky’s abstract geometry introduces rhythm, structure, and movement — bridging early modernist ideals with the pop sensibility of the collage.

The bold Chinese characters, set against dripping orange paint, translate to “Pop Art”, localising a Western visual language within a global dialogue. In the lower corner, a bright Pop-Art OMG! graphic replaces the traditional red seal, injecting irony and humour — a playful nod to how contemporary culture constantly reinvents its own symbols.

Here, Madiboka composes a collision of eras and aesthetics: where fine art meets pop culture, and the boundaries between homage, reinterpretation, and reinvention dissolve into a single, vibrant statement.

    Madiboka

Madiboka is the pseudonym of a South African street artist who prefers to keep his passion for pop art and comics hidden. With formal training in design and art,
he maintains anonymity while occasionally creating unique signature pieces by assembling parts of his favorite pop art and cartoon icons. His choice to incorporate African artisan craftwork, particularly beading, adds a distinct elevation to his art.
Thokozani M is a multidisciplinary artist known for collaborating with international artists to introduce a beaded texture to their works. His portfolio includes pieces commissioned by notable institutions such as the Bank of Tanzania and the Mayor’s office in Tshwane. Collected by art enthusiasts in the USA and Europe, Thokozani M’s work is admired for its blend of sophistication and African beaded textures.
Madiboka is now also represented by The Artists Gallery in Cape Town.
