Within South Africa we courier your artwork to your door - the shipping cost will show at the checkout.

When shipping art internationally, two primary options are commonly considered: crated and rolled. Crating involves securely packaging the artwork in a custom-built crate, providing maximum protection against physical damage but often resulting in higher shipping costs due to size and weight.
On the other hand, rolling art involves taking stretched paintings off the frame, carefully wrapping the artwork and placing it in a protective tube. This method is more cost-effective and suitable for flexible pieces.
Choosing between crating and rolling depends on the specific artwork's size, fragility, and budget, as well as the destination's shipping requirements and regulations.

We will be in touch regarding the best options for you.

    Description

This intricate beaded artwork is a vivid assembly of iconic imagery, blending cultural and artistic references into a cohesive visual statement. At its core is the unmistakable Campbell’s soup can, a nod to Andy Warhol’s revolutionary Pop Art, representing consumerism and the elevation of everyday objects to art.

Surrounding it are equally impactful visual elements: Hokusai’s “The Great Wave off Kanagawa,” symbolizing natural power and the timelessness of Japanese ukiyo-e art, and the unmistakable dramatic style of Roy Lichtenstein’s comic-inspired woman, evoking themes of emotion and narrative.

Anchoring the composition is Snoopy as a surfer, a playful yet thoughtful addition that captures themes of freedom, individuality, and nostalgia. His relaxed stance against the backdrop of these iconic elements brings a balance between whimsy and cultural critique.

This piece celebrates the universality of artistic symbols and their ability to connect across time, place, and style, while offering a fresh lens through the artist’s meticulous beadwork and creative reinterpretation.

    Madiboka

Madiboka is the pseudonym of a South African street artist who prefers to keep his passion for pop art and comics hidden. With formal training in design and art,
he maintains anonymity while occasionally creating unique signature pieces by assembling parts of his favorite pop art and cartoon icons. His choice to incorporate African artisan craftwork, particularly beading, adds a distinct elevation to his art.

Thokozani M is a multidisciplinary artist known for collaborating with international artists to introduce a beaded texture to their works. His portfolio includes pieces commissioned by notable institutions such as the Bank of Tanzania and the Mayor’s office in Tshwane. Collected by art enthusiasts in the USA and Europe, Thokozani M’s work is admired for its blend of sophistication and African beaded textures.

Madiboka is now also represented by The Artists Gallery in Cape Town.
