Open Call – Terms & Conditions

1. Eligibility

• Open to South African artists working in painting, drawing, or collage formats.
• Both emerging and established artists are welcome.
• Artists may submit up to three (3) artworks for consideration.

2. Submission Process

• Submission is free at the application stage.
• A participation fee (covering administrative, curatorial, and promotional costs) will be discussed only with selected finalists and confirmed upon acceptance into the exhibition.
• Submitting an application does not guarantee inclusion in the final exhibition.

3. Artwork Selection

• All submitted artworks will be reviewed by the curatorial team, and the curators’ selection is final.
• Finalists will be notified via email.
• Selected works must be exhibition-ready and delivered in good condition to 34 Bree Street, Cape Town. More information will be communicated directly with selected artists.

4. Sales and Commission

• All accepted artworks will be offered for sale during the exhibition.
• Prices will be set in consultation with each artist.
• The gallery will take a commission on any works sold to cover marketing and administrative costs. Commission details will be outlined in a separate agreement provided to selected artists.

5. Delivery and Return of Artworks

• Delivery to the gallery is the responsibility of the artist, including all packaging and transport costs.
• The gallery will cover the cost of returning any unsold works after the exhibition closes.
• While the gallery will take reasonable care of all works, it is not liable for loss or damage in transit. Artists are encouraged to insure their work if necessary.

6. Copyright and Image Use

• Artists retain full copyright and ownership of their artworks.
• By submitting, artists grant the organisers permission to use images of submitted and exhibited works for promotional and documentation purposes, including print, digital, and social media platforms.

7. Final Notes

• Further exhibition details — including key dates, delivery instructions, and setup information — will be provided to selected artists upon confirmation.
• Participation implies acceptance of these terms.
