On the other hand, rolling art involves taking stretched paintings off the frame, carefully wrapping the artwork and placing it in a protective tube. This method is more cost-effective and suitable for flexible pieces.
Choosing between crating and rolling depends on the specific artwork's size, fragility, and budget, as well as the destination's shipping requirements and regulations. Virtual Hanging

David van Staden
In the fourth year of pursuing a fine art degree, David van Staden experienced a pivotal shift in artistic philosophy, moving away from the representation of the visible world. Rejecting that creativity is solely born from external stimuli, David van Staden became captivated by the concept that true creativity emerges from within. This marked the genesis of an internalized symbolic language, a unique visual lexicon that now informs the essence of their work.
The artist’s paintings are not merely objects but invitations—portals through which the viewer is encouraged to step into dreamscapes and explore their own agency. In an era of passive consumption of information, these works ask the audience to engage actively, to become the creator and director of their narratives. They challenge conventional worldviews, fostering empathy and introspection.
David van Staden strikes a delicate balance between personal expression and the openness for viewers to inject their own meanings. The stretched canvas becomes a landscape of both conscious and unconscious exploration, where intimate, personal narratives unfold as evolving and evocative experiences. These works embody the interplay between individual and collective transformation, celebrating the dialogue between the cerebral and the mundane.
Through a choreography of symbolic ciphers and characters, David van Staden constructs a system where solitary elements unite to form interconnected meaning. This duality of creation, where the work is both disembodied from the artist and reconstructed within the viewer’s consciousness, is central to the experience. The paintings offer a metaphor for deciphering individuality while establishing a codified autonomy, allowing for a fluid interpretation that is personal to each observer.
The work, with its embrace of difference and collective strangeness, seeks unity in diversity. Each moment in the composition stands as a unique point, yet it navigates its existence in relation to others, calling for equilibrium across multiple planes. Ultimately, David van Staden’s work consecrates the unique and divergent, drawing them together in a harmonious oneness, celebrating the richness of interconnectedness through the language of symbolic art.
