Within South Africa we courier your artwork to your door - the shipping cost will show at the checkout.

When shipping art internationally, two primary options are commonly considered: crated and rolled. Crating involves securely packaging the artwork in a custom-built crate, providing maximum protection against physical damage but often resulting in higher shipping costs due to size and weight.
On the other hand, rolling art involves taking stretched paintings off the frame, carefully wrapping the artwork and placing it in a protective tube. This method is more cost-effective and suitable for flexible pieces.
Choosing between crating and rolling depends on the specific artwork's size, fragility, and budget, as well as the destination's shipping requirements and regulations.

We will be in touch regarding the best options for you.

    Mandlenkosi Mavengere

    Mandlenkosi Mavengere

Zimbabwean-born artist Mandlenkosi Mavengere explores migration, identity, and economic disparity, turning his personal experiences into powerful visual narratives. Born in 1992 in Bulawayo, he moved to South Africa after his O’levels, studying printmaking at Artist Proof Studio and later training under William Kentridge, gaining skills in sculpture and advanced print techniques.

Central to his work is the fictional currency “Gondruala,” symbolising the pursuit of wealth that drives migration and the false promises it entails. His linocuts and etchings, often on canvas or fabric, use directional lines to suggest movement, repeated patterns to evoke systemic constraints, and portraits with occupational headgear to depict identity transformation.

Mavengere’s art reflects both personal experience and Africa’s position in the global economy, highlighting the emotional and social costs of migration. He has exhibited at the Turbine Art Fair, AKAA Paris, Cape Town Art Fair, Absa Gallery, and Strauss & Co, with works held by the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and Minerals Council South Africa. In 2025, his solo exhibition “Currency, Culture & Migration” at MCA Gallery – Madlozi Contemporary Art confirmed his role in contemporary African art.

Through layered symbolism and striking visuals, Mavengere examines the illusion of prosperity, the resilience of migrants, and the complex construction of identity.

He is represented by The Artists Gallery in Cape Town, with work touring internationally through The Travelling Art Gallery.
